I grew up in Central Florida and while I miss the sun and being so close to the beach, I have loved calling Charlotte home for the last three years. I received my undergraduate degree from Birmingham-Southern College and have worked with individuals of every age and walk of life in various service-related industries, finally finding my home in Social Work. After college, I worked for several years with college students where I learned the power of stories and developed a love for walking alongside individuals who are hurting and healing. Knowing I had found my passion, I completed my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
My work as your counselor is to create a relationship built on trust and hope where you feel accepted and encouraged to grow in new and meaningful ways through the sharing of your stories. Few things are more powerful than vulnerability met with empathy to empower someone to own their struggle and redirect their narrative. I work from evidence-based models including narrative, cognitive- and dialectical-behavior therapies, and I am always looking to continue my own education by pursuing new trainings and research-based practices.
I enjoy working with individuals facing a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, unhelpful relational patterns, grief, and other life transitions and disappointments. I especially enjoy working with clients who come from harmful home environments and are interested in exploring how past traumas are impacting their present experiences. I see all of my clients as individuals with specific goals and strengths and am excited to collaborate with you to find a therapeutic approach that is a good fit for you.
When I’m not working, I love to explore new restaurants and activities, learn new things, and chase interesting stories through books, film and television. Recently, I’ve been enjoying encouraging my creative side through watercolor.
